TOUR DETAILS
Day 1: Ban Prang – Ban LaHou
Approx. 2–3 hours trekking
Your adventure begins at 9:00 AM, when your experienced local guide meets you at your hotel or the Green Trail Laos office for a short tour briefing. The journey starts with a stop at the lively morning market, where you’ll pick up fresh ingredients and observe the daily rhythm of local life.
From here, travel to the nearby Khmu villages along the main road. In Ban Prang, walk through the community with your guide and gain fascinating insights into the Khmu minority’s culture, lifestyle, and traditions. Their ancient way of life, still closely connected to nature, sets the tone for the trek ahead.
Begin your hike from Ban Prang into the local farm and forest of Nam Ha National Protected Area. The trail gradually ascends the mountain, offering peaceful jungle ambience, rich biodiversity, and fresh forest air. Along the way, your guide will help you collect edible plants and herbs, which will later be transformed into a delicious picnic lunch, cooked the traditional jungle way with using banana leaves, bamboo tubes, and natural forest materials.
By around 2–3:00 PM, arrive at the welcoming Lahu minority village of Ban Nam Khouy. Explore the village, meet local families, and take in panoramic viewpoints overlooking untouched mountain landscapes. This is an opportunity to learn about the Lahu people’s unique culture, daily life, farming traditions, and spiritual beliefs.
Note: Facilities are very basic in the village. There are no toilets, and guests bathe in a clean nearby stream, as the locals do.
Day 2: Ban LaHou – Ban NamWang
Approx. 4–5 hours trekking
Wake up to the peaceful mountain atmosphere and enjoy a simple breakfast paired with hot tea or coffee. After packing up, head into the primary forest, following a different route that allows you to further explore the untouched biodiversity of Nam Ha NPA.
Your guide will share knowledge about the forest’s plants, wildlife, herbs, and traditional jungle survival skills, stopping occasionally to gather edible greens and medicinal plants. Lunch is again cooked along the trail using natural jungle techniques an immersive experience.
After lunch, enjoy an easy two-hour downhill hike back toward Ban NamSing. The trail is gentle and scenic, offering your final moments inside the deep forest.
Upon arrival in Ban NAmSing, your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to Luang Namtha, bringing your two-day cultural and jungle adventure to a close.
