Day 1: Phongsaly – BounTai – Ethnic Village Exploration (L/D)
Approx: 4-5 hours walk
Depart from Phongsaly and enjoy a scenic drive through the mountains to BounTai. Along the way, visit Akha Oma and Akha Pixor villages to learn about their traditions, daily life, and unique handicrafts, including handmade jewelry, woven bags, and local souvenirs.
Upon arrival in BounTai, explore several ethnic communities, including Akha Pixor, Phounoy, Tai Lue, Akha Erpa, and Laoseng villages. Visit traditional homes, learn about weaving, herbal medicine, and local customs, and experience the rich cultural diversity of the region.
In the late afternoon, settle into a local homestay and join your host family in preparing a traditional dinner. Enjoy time interacting with local children, take a short walk through the village to visit neighboring homes, and gain a deeper understanding of the community’s lifestyle and traditions. Overnight at a local homestay for an authentic cultural experience.
Day 2: Tribal Villages – Nature Walk – Return to Phongsaly (B/L)
Approx: 4-5 hours walk
After breakfast, continue exploring remote ethnic villages, including Tang Yang, Laoseng, Akha Mouchee, Hmong, Akha Cherpia, and Khmu communities. Meet local families and learn about their traditions, farming practices, and way of life.
Later, enjoy a gentle walk through forests, farmland, and mountain scenery, offering beautiful views and insight into rural life in northern Laos. In the afternoon, return to Phongsaly, arriving in the late afternoon and concluding your cultural adventure.
