TOUR DETAILS
Day 1: Jungle Trekking & Ahka Village Homestay (L/D)
Approx. 5–6 hours trekking
Your Akha Homestay Experience begins at our office in Luang Namtha, where you will meet your guide and receive a short briefing about the journey ahead. Departure is around 9:00 AM.
We drive to Ban Chalernsouk, a Khmu village located at the edge of Nam Ha National Protected Area. Here, you will meet a local village guide who will accompany you into the primary forest. The trek follows small streams and bamboo groves, leading deep into untouched jungle.
Along the way, your guide will introduce you to seasonal jungle fruits, edible herbs, and basic survival skills. You will learn how to collect natural ingredients from the forest and prepare them for lunch. After reaching a scenic mountain viewpoint, you will enjoy a freshly prepared meal surrounded by nature.
Following lunch, continue trekking for about one hour through forest trails and Akha farmland before arriving at Ban Namxa, an Akha village, in the afternoon.
Upon arrival, your guide will explain the cultural Do’s and Don’ts to ensure respectful interaction with the community. Take a short walk around the village to observe daily life. If time allows, you may join your host family in preparing dinner, a wonderful opportunity to learn traditional Akha cooking techniques.
In the evening, enjoy storytelling shared by a village elder, offering insight into Akha traditions and beliefs. Overnight accommodation is in local style with simple bedding, providing an authentic cultural experience.
Day 2: Ahka tribe Village – NamTha River kayak (B/L)
Approx. 4–5 hours Kayaking
Wake up to fresh mountain air and a traditional breakfast prepared by your hosts. And then Tuk-Tuk drive 10 munites to Lantan tribe village to begining of kayaking along the Nam Tha River, surrounded by dense forest rising steeply on right side.
As you paddle downstream, the river becomes your pathway into the wild. Glide past towering trees, and the untouched jungle corridors where wildlife often appears. Along the way, stop at Khmu tribal villages, where you’ll have the chance to meet local families and learn about their traditional ways of life, fishing, weaving, farming, and spiritual beliefs that remain deeply rooted in the forest.
Deeper into the jungle, you’ll pause for a scenic picnic lunch along the riverbank. Keep your eyes open: the area near the river is home to a natural salt lick, a mineral-rich spot where animals such as deer, civets, and birds often gather. Quiet paddling increases your chances of spotting wildlife as you move through this natural sanctuary.
Your kayaking journey concludes around 2:00–3:00 PM, where a Tuk-Tuk will be waiting to transport you back to the Green Trail Laos office, bringing your unforgettable two-day jungle and river expedition to a close.
